First Photos of Finished Bowser Canadian-Style SD40-2 Units

Thanks to Railroad Model Craftsman, there are photos of the first painted and detailed Bowser SD40-2 units.

The photos were taken at the National Train Show in Portland, OR.

Looking good!

  1. Why do the CP units have plows instead of pilots? The Bowser pre-order information clearly states that these will have "rock pilots" and not plows. Concerned.

  2. I was just about to paint up a Kato SD40 in the new Ontario Northland scheme like 1733. Guess I'll do a GP38-2 as 1809 instead.

  3. I will say that other than the plow these look fantastic! I have seven on order and could use about double that number (plus a Red Barn too). Hopefully they will do a second run with more numbers in the small multimark scheme and on the 5700-series body style!

  4. Comment for Tyler - not all CP SD40-2s had the pilots, there were a series (somewhere in the 6000s) that had plows.

  5. Ian is correct, this is my mistake, not Bowser's. According to the Clark book, 6049-6054 were delivered with plows instead of pilots. So the model is correct. With attention to detail like that, I should stop worrying!

  8. The comment above, roughly translated by Google from Portuguese, says "Here in Brazil you can find former CP Rail SD40-2 units." Which is true, and which also sounds like a reason for a future blog post . . . .
