You heard that right--Rapido is making Canadian steam locomotives.
The company, owned by my friend Jason Shron, has launched Icons of Steam, a new line that will bring out ten iconic Canadian steam locomotives between 2017-23.
The first unit to be produced will be the Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 Royal Hudson Class H1c, H1d, H1e. It will come out in 2017.
It will be followed by:
CPR 4-6-0 Class D10e, D10f, D10g, D10h and Canadian National 4-6-0 Ten Wheeler Class G16a, H6g (2018).
Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 Hudson H1a, H1b and Canadian National 2-8-0 Consolidation Class N2b, N4a (2019).
Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 Light Pacific Class G5c, G5d and Canadian National 4-8-2 Mountain Class U1f (2020).
Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 Heavy Pacific Class G3e, G3f, G3g and Canadian National 4-6-2 Pacific Class J4e, J4d, J4f (2021).
Canadian Pacific 2-10-4 Selkirk Class T1b, T1c and Canadian National 4-8-4 U-4 Northern Class U4a, U4b (2022).
Canadian Pacific 4-4-4 Jubilee Class U4a, F2a (2023).
